Privacy
Last updated: 9 October 2026
We keep as little information about you as possible. We do not sell your data, and we do not use advertising trackers.
This policy explains what information WattCast Radio (radio.wattcast.com), operated by WattCast.com, collects and why. For any question, write to [email protected].
Information we collect
- If you create an account: your email address, your password (stored only in a scrambled, one-way “hashed” form that we cannot read), and your list of favourite stations.
- Sign-in cookie: one essential cookie keeps you signed in for up to 180 days. It is not used for tracking or advertising.
- Advert reports: when you report a station, we store the station and either your account number or a scrambled code made from your internet address, so the same person is only counted once.
- Your country: we use your internet address to work out your country so we can show the most listened stations there. We do not store it.
Information kept only on your device
Your browser stores some settings on your own device so the site remembers them: your favourites (when signed out), recently played stations, the last station, the volume, your chosen country and the “No ads at start” setting. You can clear these at any time in your browser settings.
Services that help us run WattCast Radio
- Cloudflare hosts the website and the account database.
- The public radio station directory we use provides the list of stations. Your browser contacts it directly to search for stations.
- Radio stations: when you press play, your device connects directly to the broadcaster’s own server, which sees your internet address like any website you visit. Each broadcaster has its own privacy policy.
- Google Fonts (text style), flagcdn (country flags) and cdnjs (playback software) deliver parts of the page.
- Google Cast / Apple AirPlay: only used if you choose to play on a speaker or TV.
How long we keep information
Account information is kept until you ask us to delete your account. Sign-in sessions expire after 180 days. Advert reports are kept while they are useful for hiding stations.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you, correct, export or delete the information we hold about you, or object to how we use it. Write to [email protected] and we will reply within one month. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to your local data protection authority (for example the ICO in the United Kingdom or the CNIL in France).
Children
Accounts are intended for people aged 16 and over. Listening without an account requires no personal information.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
